Reflection after Launch: Leaders Beyond the Stage – Series Two, Episode 1

Updated: May 19

After launching the first episode of Leaders Beyond the Stage Series Two, I have been reflecting with a mix of excitement and gentle apprehension.

I am proud of how the episode turned out. The content quality and my flow as an interviewer both feel stronger than Series One — and this topic is one close to my heart:

How martial arts shapes us into the people we become.

I was joined by two incredible guests who share my practice of Muay Thai, and our conversation was candid, unscripted, and deeply human.

  • Ann, a highly respected family mediator and successful entrepreneur in Hong Kong, shared powerful insights on personal growth and self-development through martial arts.

  • Tin Yu, a Hong Kong Muay Thai champion, opened up with true honesty about his grueling journey to the top — and how this demanding sport completely transformed his life.

Their stories of struggle, resilience, and growth exceeded all my expectations. It’s the kind of meaningful conversation that will help you to dig into deeper reflection. I’ve shared the full video with friends via WhatsApp, and I’m grateful to those who took the time to watch the longer format and share thoughtful feedback. At the same time, I will admit I felt a little disappointed that some closer connections didn’t have the space to engage.

It reinforced a feeling I’ve been pondering lately: why so many of us in Hong Kong live with such a busy schedule with shrinking attention spans. If something doesn’t grab us instantly, we move on.

That’s why my recent forest therapy experience in Tai Tam felt so meaningful. It reminded me to slow down, be present, and lean into curiosity and reflection. This podcast is exactly that kind of space — one worth pausing for.

If you haven’t yet watched the episode, I encourage you to set aside a little time for it. You will gain powerful life lessons from two truly inspiring personalities, and walk away with insights on growth, mindset, and resilience.

I’d love to hear your takeaways — what resonated with you? What did you learn from their journeys?
